'BABY' 15 PIECE PAINTED CAST IRON 19th CENTURY IVES AMERICAN TOY STOVE

This wonderful 15 piece painted cast iron toy stove was manufactured by Ives Toy Co. in the early 1890's.

"Before fast food restaurants and take out meals there was 'home cooking'. You learned to cook by watching Mom and then followed her lessons on your own little stove. Manufacturers of large sized stoves competed side by side with toy makers in the production of these often exact small scale versions of actual stoves with working grates, dampers, ash shakers and all the works".

This stove has the original 6 burner tops, 2 side shelves, water reservoir lid, fancy chimney cover with warming shelf, an opening oven door embossed "BABY" with leaf designs, opening fuel & ash doors, an ash shaker and a damper. It also includes a tea kettle, and 2 cooking pans (all in matching gold colour).

Condition: As found. It has had a professional repair to one of the tongues on the right shelf that is impossible to detect (photo included). No damage evident.
