FIGURAL CAST IRON & BRASS MECHANICAL CHURCH MATCH SAFE HOLDER

This mechanical match holder for the table was made in the form of a cottage or church.

It is embossed around the edges of the base: “COMPLETE MATCH SAFE PT’D JULY 13, 1883” and is American made. It appears to be a combination of brass and cast iron.

The roof is removable and the matches are stored inside.

When you want a match: you just push on the roof to open it & grab one. The striker is located on one side of the roof. After you are done with the match, you drop it into the chimney and it goes into the spent match holder.
