RARE 19th CENTURY NOVA SCOTIA NATIVE CHIP CARVED

BURL CROOKED KNIFE IN SHEATH

 

This crooked knife, carved from maple burl & decorated with a chip carved design, retains its original leather sheath. These knives were used by Native Americans to carve baskets.

It was found in the Maritimes and appears to have been made in the 19th century.

Approximate Dimensions: The knife itself is 9 1/2" long, in the sheath the length is 10"..

Condition: Excellent: The blade is sharp and retains its point. The leather & the handle of the knife have the wear & patina expected with age & use
