FOLK ART late 19TH CENTURY ALTERNATIVE SURFACE ART HAND PAINTED TIN CRUMB TRAYS
I am going to be selling my collection of alternative surface art. In the 19th century a canvas to paint on was not always readily available and artists used whatever they could find as a 'make do' canvas. My collection includes wooden kitchen ladles, rolling pins, crumb trays, school slates and even drawer bottoms.
These three tin crumb trays are all hand-painted. The small one is a scene of children playing outside in the snow. The medium size one is a winter river scene which includes a beached sailboat and a swan. The largest painting is of a young woman in a rowboat in a pond.
Approximate Dimensions: Smallest 7" x 7", Medium 8" x 8" Largest 11" x 11".
Condition: As seen in the photos. No repaint all original. Wear as expected with age. No damage or repairs.
