SIX PIECE PAINTED CAST IRON FLOOR TRAIN, CARPENTER TOYS 1880

This train was manufactured in the late 19th century by Carpenter Toys in New York.

Carpenter made toys from 1879-1896.

The locomotive is patented June 8, 1880 and each car is patented on the underside May 25 1880, reissued Mar.14, 1892 (see photos).

The set includes a locomotive, a coal car, 2 gondolas and the original brakeman and conductor (separate & removable and often lost) as well as the original coupler hooks.

Condition: As found. Retains much of the original red, black and gold paint.

No damage, repairs or missing parts.

Approximate Dimensions: The entire train measures 21 1/2" long. The locomotive is 7" long and 5" high. Each gondola is 5" long and 2" high while the coal car is 3" long and 2" high.
