1920'S MENGEL CLOCKWORK 'MISS AMERICA' TOY BOAT

This clockwork boat model was made by the Mengel Playthings Company in the early 1920's.

This boat is a representation of Gar Wood's Miss American speedboat.

It is supposed to go 200 feet on one wind-up, and has an adjustment screw (next to the wind-up knob) to adjust the speed and a knob (next to the seat) that turns the rudder.

The hull is mahogany while the fittings are brass. It is in its original unrestored condition and retains its original Mengel decal.

There are no breaks or cracks and there is no evidence of repairs or restoration.

It is 15" long, 3 1/4" wide and 2 3/4" high.

The stand, made later to display the boat, is included

It is rare to find a boat like this in this condition!
